Hangout Destinations in Mumbai

Its weekend time and it’s time for many Mumbaikars to take some time off from their hectic and boring work schedule and spend some time with their friends where they can share some quality moments and probably even vent out their inner emotions and feelings. I love weekends as much as I love my work because after five days of struggle, I get some time to spend it the way I want it. The biggest tragedy of being in the writing profession is that everybody thinks it is cool to be a writer, but there are many more sides of it that always remain in the dark. Well, I am not cribbing about my profession here, I am just saying that everybody around feels the same that their burden in life is the heaviest. So, when the weekend comes people hunt for the coolest hangout destinations where they can meet with friends and chill out and spend some great time.  Here we take a look at the top 5 coolest and affordable hangout destinations in Mumbai where you can have quality time with your friends without spending too much.

Cafe Coffee Day

The first place that comes to my mind when I think about meeting my friends is Cafe Coffee Day also known as CCD. Although, Cafe Coffee Day was not the first to start the cafe culture in India, they certainly have taken the advantage of the growing market and have become the leading firm in this segment.

No matter wherever you are located in Mumbai, you are never too far from Cafe Coffee Day outlet so you can find one near your location. CCD has also managed to won many awards for their services and Most Popular Hangout Joint Amongst Youth award as well. CCD offers wide range of hot cafes, cold coffees, frappes, quenchers, lemonades and much more in beverages. While they also offer croissants, samosas, cookies, puffs, sundaes, and pastries and even sandwiches for those who want light snacks. A trip to CCD with your partner will cost you around Rs. 500 which is affordable considering the rising inflation.

Starbucks

Although, Starbucks is new to the Indian market it has managed to attract many coffee lovers with its international fame. I remember when the first Starbucks opened up at Fort, Mumbai and when I went there with my wife there was a long queue of people waiting to get in and enjoy their first cup of coffee at Starbucks. I hate wasting my time in the queue so I decided to go some other time and I did almost a week later. Starbucks offers a wide range of coffee options like cappuccinos, lattes, cafe Americano, espressos, and much more along with food items like sandwiches, rolls, croissants, cheesecakes and pastries that won’t fill you up too much.

In terms of pricing Starbucks is bit expensive than Cafe Coffee Day, but Starbucks offer free Wi-Fi option for the consumers which in my personal opinion is just a stupid concept. From business point of view it might be a great move, but I see many seat hoggers around that sit around with their laptops more concentrated on their laptops than on the cup of coffee that they just bought which means you might end up buying all your coffee and sandwiches and looking around for vacant seats. If any Starbucks employee is reading my blog, please take note of it while all my readers can keep this in mind especially on weekends when there are too many people around. A trip to Starbucks for two will cost you around Rs. 800 for sure. Starbucks is located in Fort, Apollo Bunder, Vile Parle, R-City Mall, Hiranandani Gardens, Korum Mall – Mulund, Oberoi Mall – Goregaon East.

Mocha

Mocha managed to attract many cafe lovers with its unique blend of coffees and other items that they serve and they came up with their first store in Churchgate in 2001 and with better response they opened up Mocha Bandra and Mocha at Juhu which is the biggest Mocha in the city. There are many other locations where you can find Mocha along with your friends. I think the best part about Mocha is that although they serve coffee they are very different from Cafe Coffee Day and Starbucks.

They have a better menu in terms of food and beverage which also includes the best beer brands and alcoholic drinks. The seats are really comfortable and the ambience is great especially when you want to hangout with friends. A trip to Mocha for two will cost you around Rs. 1000 which also depends on what kind of meal you order.

Pizza Hut

A lot of conversation can happen not only over coffee, but also on delicious pizzas. With the amount of customers that I see in most Pizza Hut outlets on weekends, I can surely say it remains the top pizza hangout destinations in Mumbai. They have wide range of pan and stuff crust pizzas that can tempt many foodies and pizza lovers. Considering the tough competition, Pizza Hut also offers pastas, and other items that consumers can try out.

They also offer interesting beverages that go well with pizzas and pastas. Pizza Hut has that blood red and dark chocolate brown ambience which is similar across all outlets that look quite appealing. A trip to Pizza Hut for two will cost around Rs. 1000. You can find Pizza Hut in Kandivali, Andheri East, Bandra Kurla Complex, Borivali, Thane, Vashi, Lokhandwala and opposite Sterling Cinema near CST.

Cafe Mondegar

If you are somewhere in South Mumbai hanging out with friends then you need to look out for Cafe Mondegar. While this place has a Parsi-Irani touch to it, Cafe Mondegar is nothing like the Irani bakeries that you find in many parts of the city. The place is always filled with people chilling out and gulping down pitchers of beer with their friends while there is music playing out loud from the jukebox which is also one of the major attractions at this place. The menu has ample of choices for foodies from Chinese to Continental dishes. The interiors are splashed with Mario Miranda cartoons that still attract many regular customers here. The prices are affordable here for beer pitchers so it manages to be among the top coolest and affordable hangout destinations in Mumbai for sure.

Unfortunately, they have no branches so if you are in suburbs you will have to come down to Colaba Causeway where you will find this hangout destination almost near Regal Cinema. A trip for two to Cafe Mondegar will cost you Rs. 1000 which includes a beer pitcher and some food items.

I have been to Starbucks in Switzerland and United States. I found in all the outlets I have visited to offer free Wifi and yes people do sit long hours. I have seen students doing their homework and freelancers operating on their laptops. I believe it’s their concept/culture.

Yes, very true. I know Starbucks have their own concept. Its just that I don’t like it because what’s the point if I go in, pay for the coffee and find no seats. I am not really concerned about their concept and culture, I am more focused on my personal experience, not others.
