by Sharukh Bamboat

Looking for perfect Udaipur holiday rentals and homes where you can stay during your visit to Udaipur? Known as the City of Lakes, Udaipur remains one of the most visited tourist places in India. Hence, when we were planning holidays we decided to focus on finding the right Udaipur house vacation rentals that can make a difference. To begin with, we did our research and found a suitable Airbnb in Udaipur that matched our needs, preferences and budget.

If you are interested in knowing more about how you can go about finding affordable Airbnb homestay in Udaipur Rajasthan you can continue to read this blog.

Why Visit Udaipur?

Known as the City of Lakes, Udaipur is well-known for its lakes. It is here that you can find the iconic Lake Pichola and Lake Fateh Sagar which provide you with the best holiday experiences.

Udaipur is also a land of historic forts and palaces and therefore you can experience royalty here like nowhere else. While you are exploring the royal palaces and museums you can also enjoy the rich heritage and architecture it preserves. Founded in 1559, by Maharana Udai Singh, Udaipur was the historic capital of the kingdom of Mewar. The beautiful waterscape of interconnected man-made lakes adds to the beauty of Udaipur.

One of the reasons to visit Udaipur is that it remains one of the most romantic places in India where you can have a great time with your partner. This city is perfect for newlyweds who want to spend time in comfort and seclusion. Hence, if you are planning a honeymoon in India you can plan your honeymoon in Udaipur as it is one of the best honeymoon places in India.

Udaipur is also a great place for those who want to explore wildlife as you can visit the Sajjangarh Biological Park.

Udaipur is also a great place for shopaholics who want to explore the local markets and various shopping malls dotted all over the city.

Tips to Find the Right Udaipur Holiday Rentals

  • When we were planning our Udaipur trip we went through a list of Udaipur house vacation rentals which suit our needs and budget. For this, we did a lot of research and looked through various lake view Airbnbs and even affordable Airbnbs in Udaipur to help us find the right accommodation. To be honest, it was our first Airbnb in Udaipur and therefore we were nervous and excited both at the same time.
  • The first thing we did was write down all our needs on a piece of paper. This way we could visualize and see what we expected from the Udaipur holiday rentals list we had in front of us. You can do the same for finding relevant Udaipur hotels and Udaipur resorts for your holidays.
  • We also made use of the search filters on the Airbnb site which allowed us to further narrow down our search for the best Udaipur bed and breakfast holiday rentals.
  • Choose the right area we wanted to stay. Initially we were looking for lake view Airbnbs in Udaipur. However, we found that most of the holiday rentals in Fateh Sagar Lake are economical. Here you can find plenty of houses for rent in Udaipur that are affordable and in good condition. The location of the property is crucial to how you move around the city to explore Udaipur tourist places.
  • While browsing through the list of Udaipur holiday rentals we also focused on superhosts. This made our search more effective because we wanted to look for someone we could trust. On Airbnb superhosts are hosts who have excellent hospitality ratings. Hence, you can be sure that the stay experience will be good and as mentioned in the description.
  • Reading the property description and reviews can also help. This is essential because a lot is revealed through the information already available on Airbnb sites. If you are looking for villa rentals in Udaipur you can find that through the property description.
  • Even before you decide what Udaipur Airbnb you want to choose you must also read a little bit about the host and the rules they mention. This is crucial to renting the right property because you want to make the most of your holidays. When we read about David’s Bungalow hosted by Samir Samuel we knew we had found the right property.
  • When you are looking for budget friendly Airbnbs in Udaipur you must also focus on the total cost. This is essential because you want to manage your travel budget. When choosing our first Airbnb in Udaipur we did focus on the total cost per day which would help us to manage our total Udaipur tour budget.

Our Journey to Udaipur

Sarah and I are both passionate about travelling on a train. Hence, we decided to book our train tickets in advance to be on the safe side. If you are visiting Udaipur during the peak season you would want to book your accommodations, train and flight tickets in advance. This would ensure that there are no last-moment hiccups.

Our train journey began at night time. So, there was not much we could see out of the window. However, we were excited about the journey and the holiday before us and all the uncertainty that came with it.

The following morning as we continued our journey we took shots of our train journey. The lush landscape outside the window only made our hearts beat faster. The best time to visit Udaipur is in September. This is when you can enjoy the lush greenery and good Udaipur weather.

We reached Udaipur somewhere around 3:30 p.m. We took some photographs at the railway station before you jumped into our Uber and reached David’s Bungalow.

The Experience

The moment we entered the compound there was a wild thought running at the back of my mind. It was the moment of truth. We were finally at the destination. However, my apprehensions were laid to rest the moment Samir greeted us.

Being the host, he showed us the room, which was EXACTLY the way it is in the pictures on Airbnb. While we were a bit tired from our 16-hour train journey, we were happy to be in the room. We took our time to freshen up and it was time to finally the meet the host family.

The art in the room caught my attention the moment we went in. We were in the company of an artist family. Along with Samir, Shruti and Shuri Aunty walked in to greet us and the conversations began. We were at complete ease now.

Samir is a professional content writer and portrait photographer, so we had plenty to talk about. Shruti, his elder sister, is an artist and her paintings and craft adds another dimension to the entire property. Shuri Aunty puts you at ease with her motherly care and attention.

To take the experience to the next level, Rover Almighty (Black Labrador) came to greet us. Rover and I had an instant connection and we fell madly in love with each other. By the way, Rover has his own Instagram profile. Dusky (the cat) introduced herself later and showcased her agile moves. Our first Airbnb homestay in Udaipur was surpassing all our expectations.

I and Rover had a great time together. Miss him.

The next morning, in fact every morning, it was overwhelming to see Shuri Aunty and Shruti bring us breakfast. Honestly, I and Sarah were touched by their affection, love and kindness. It seems like we were now in the company of people from small town with a big heart. While we were mostly out of the home for our daily activities we had lot of conversations with Samir, Shruti and Shuri Aunty.

Considering that we prefer quiet places, David’s Bungalow was the perfect Airbnb homestay in Udaipur for us. Although, it was a bit far from some of the main attractions near the Lake Pichola, but it was exactly what we wanted. Udaipur is a small town. As a result most attractions are not very far. A ten-minute Uber ride can take you from one side of the town to another.

Samir and his family helped us a lot with their feedback and suggestions and it added to our research. Often we would return home in the evenings and share what we covered. At times, we would share our life experiences and moments that are so personal to us. Furthermore, we also touched upon many other topics that went on for hours.

Our week-long experience with Samir, Shruti and Shuri Aunty passed by in a blink of an eye. However, we will always cherish the memories and sweet moments we spent together. They touched our soul with their kindness and generosity and made our first Airbnb homestay in Udaipur the most memorable ever.

Conclusion

If you are planning a visit to Udaipur you can choose from a variety of Udaipur house vacation rentals perfect for your holidays. However, you must choose the right one to help you elevate your holiday experiences. Knowing how to choose the right Airbnb for your holidays can make a huge difference. With the right Udaipur holiday rentals, you can have a great time when you are holidaying with your partner or friends.

Thank you, Ashish, for your lovely comment. Udaipur is a small town but if you are looking for experiences you will need to give it more time. We as creative people have so much to explore. As a story writer, you’ll find plenty of inspiration in the alleys, old buildings and the local people. There’s art on almost every street, if you look closely. I believe winter is the best time to visit, so if you have time, take a week off and explore it. Also, I will share more of my experiences, so you’ll know what you can choose or drop.

These are such gorgeous pictures, and you and Sara seem to have had such a lovely time! And I don’t blame you for falling in love with Rover Almighty, he’s adorable.

I want to show this post to my husband, who is not keen on AirBnBs at all.

There was no way I and Sarah would let go this vacation. So we made the most of it. Right from our train trip to our interactions with the family and even other people that I will gradually reveal in upcoming posts. Rover and I had a great time playing and fooling around. We found a perfect mate in each other. Honestly, I was apprehensive about AirBnb, but if you choose wisely, such experiences happen. When we meet I will share few tricks on how to find good homestays.

Nothing in this world could bring you as much joy as when people not just appreciate you but your HOME too.

Sharukh Bamboat, a brilliant professional content writer expressed his love and appreciation for David’s Bungalow. He and his wife Sarah, who is a partner in crime with him for all his travel, food and shopping blogs visited us this month. Seeing them, I realized for how beautiful a marriage could be if both the characters trapped into it, thoroughly love and relish the trap and do everything to make it a beautiful journey forever.

The content and traits have to match somewhere, to sustain a strong bond of togetherness, atleast in the present era. While love, care, support and honesty are still and always the old school and necessary basics of a marriage or any relationship. I’m was so glad to see how beautifully they both compliment each other. They both have a distinguished perspective about life. We talked for hours whenever we got time, and the conversations were just so perfect.

I am glad that Sharukh and Sarah gave a us a space about their experience with us and David’s Bungalow in their blog posts. They are brilliant writers who decorate their content with beautiful pictures clicked by them. They are all amazingly written. The best thing about their writing is that the reader could actually feel like that they are at the place, eating the food and shopping stuffs that they have mentioned in their blog.

I am glad that they mentioned even the minute details of their stay and interactions in the blog, being it the space where they stayed, its vicinity and both of our loved pets. Moreover Sharukh and Rover Almighty fell in love with each other.

Thanks to Airbnb too for through it we got to meet such wonderful people like Sharukh and Sarah, who turned out to be amazing friends. The friends that one could keep for a lifetime.

Thanks again, keep rising and shining and we’d definitely wish to see you guys again.

Regards

Samir Samuel David

Lovely photos and reflections on what sounds like a wonderful vacation. I have not tried AirBnB or Uber for that matter, but most of the Airbnb experiences I’ve heard about seem to be for empty dwellings. This actually sounds like a “Bed and Breakfast” experience, and a fine one at that. Thanks for including the pictures from the train. I would enjoy a 16-hour train ride almost as much as a vacation.

Thank you for your comment, Dan. I have plenty of pictures and videos of the train journey, but I cannot put them all here. You already have seen the Train Honk video I shot especially for you. Yes, there are Airbnb properties where owners don’t live, but what fun is that? To be honest, the breakfast part was the generosity and love of the host family. It was such an overwhelming experience for both me and Sarah. I’m already done with the second post, so stay tune for what’s coming up next. I’m glad you liked the post.

I have never tried AirBnB and reading your post made me think that I should 🙂
Let me start my saying that I absolutely loved this post. A peek into your life – the pictures of the train journey and the free writing style were simply beautiful. I am so glad you guys tried and had a great time. Samir’s place also looks so colorful and warm.

Yes, you should definitely try it. Thank you for commenting and loving the post. We tried our best to keep the post narration as realistic as possible. There’s plenty of content coming up in the next few weeks as we share the attractions we explored and the adventures we did. Also, I wanted to ask you, how’s Bangalore as a winter holiday destination? You must have noticed Mysuru was one of the destination choices so we want to cover Mysuru, which I believe is close to Bangalore. We can meet as well, if that doesn’t bother your schedule.
