The year 2013 has not been quite great for many people because the stock markets are sliding down and there has been lot of unemployment happening as multinationals and companies are trying to use cost cutting measures by eliminating unwanted staff. If you are an Indian, I don’t need to tell you more about how the inflation is quickly consuming up our salaries and the prices of onion have already brought tears to the population of the country. No matter how the economy is doing marriages cannot wait and every couple looks out for best honeymoon destinations in India. While I have already written about the top 5 best honeymoon destinations in India, I decided to add some budget friendly honeymoon destinations as well that won’t cost much and still offer the same thrill, fun and privacy moments that you need.

Goa

If you are on a small budget, look out for the smallest state of India, Goa. Located on the western side of India, Goa can offer you the right kind of honeymoon experience that you need. Renowned for its beaches, old churches and heritage architecture Goa can offer you all the fun, adventure and private moments that you want to experience with your newlywed partner.

You can enjoy the romantic sunset walk with your partner on the beach, explore heritage buildings and churches, and enjoy some great food and music here as well. You can also explore Goa using rent a bike which will cost you around Rs. 300 to 400 per day so it won’t cost you too much. You can also look out for budget cottages and hotels so that you don’t have to spend too much on accommodation.

Hampi

Located near Hospet in the state of Karnataka is Hampi, a place where you will find temples and ancient structures. The ruins of Hampi are UNESCO World Heritage site so there are many tourists that come here throughout the year to explore the ruins of Vijaynagara. While Hampi looks like a ruined village of boulders, giant rocks and hills there is so much more to explore.

Virupaksha Temple in Hampi

Not too far from the national capital you will find Agra that attracts millions of tourists and couples mainly because they want to see The Taj Mahal. While Agra is close to New Delhi it is not that expensive and therefore you can be sure that you are right on track when it comes to travel and accommodation. You can visit and explore the Taj Mahal which symbolizes true and eternal love.

Pondicherry/Puducherry

Beach Road in Pondicherry

Pondicherry also known as Puducherry is a union territory that still has remnants of French rulers that ruled this part of the city in the 17th Century. The climate of Pondicherry is very much like Tamil Nadu but it receives rainfall during the last quarter of the year. However, what makes Puducherry come up on this list is that it won’t eat up your budget. All over the city you will find buildings and structures that speak about the French.

You can enjoy a nice evening walk with your partner on the Beach Road also known as Goubert Avenue or Promenade. Watch out for the Gandhi Statue, 19th Century Light House, French War Memorial, Alliance Francaise, Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, The Church of Our Lady of the Immaculate Inception, Varadaraja Perumal Temple, and Pyramid Nataraj Temple. You can also spend some time with your partner at Bharathi Park or the Botanical Gardens.

Chandigarh

Well, I would also recommend New Delhi but instead I chose Chandigarh because it is lot safer than New Delhi especially during late evening time. Chandigarh is the first planned city of the country and still remains one of the cleanest cities in India. There are many destinations around Chandigarh that you can explore so this destination is ideal for couples that want to explore more. You can explore other cities like Ludhiana and Patiala which are not too far from here.
